Known for its stunning landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and Australia’s highest peak, Kosciuszko National Park is a premier destination for mountain biking. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner looking for a new adventure, Kosciuszko National Park offers an array of trails that promise both excitement and breathtaking scenery.
Make sure to purchase your entry passes to the National Park. We highly suggest a multi-day or annual pass if you’re intending to tackle several different trails across the region.
For those seeking a bit more challenge, the Cascade Hut Trail is a fantastic option. This 20-kilometer trail takes you through alpine landscapes and lush forests, ending at the historic Cascade Hut. The trail is moderately difficult, with some steep sections that require a good level of fitness and technical skill. Make sure to give way to walkers – it can get busy!

If you’re up for an ultimate challenge, the Mount Kosciuszko Summit Trail is a must-try. While this trail is primarily a hiking route, it can be tackled by experienced mountain bikers looking for a tough ascent. The trail provides a unique opportunity to ride up to Australia’s highest point, offering panoramic views that are well worth the effort.
Please note: bikes are only allowed between Charlotte Pass and Rawson Pass. At Rawson Pass, there are bike stand to store your machine while you walk the last 1.4 kilometres to the summit. So make sure you’re prepared for a ride and a walk!

These three locations have dedicated mountain bike trails and areas for you to spend entire days exploring.
Located outside Jindabyne, Bungarra Alpine Centre boasts a professionally built mountain bike track network. The network cover 20 kilometres of track and includes three different skill areas to test your abilities. Day passes start from $5 per child, $10 per adult and $25 per family of four.
Lake Crackenback has over 18 kilometres of terrain spanning lakes, beautiful alpine hills and roads. Plus, if you don’t have equipment of your own, you can rent mountain bikes (and even e-bikes) for very reasonable prices.
And of course we couldn’t make this list without mentioning Thredbo’s mountain biking park, Australia’s Premier Mountain Bike Park. A mixture terrain 40 kilometres network lets you explore the best the Snowy Mountains have to offer. But don’t forget to purchase your life pass!

If you prefer nice, smooth roads, the Kosciuszko National Park also has fantastic and very smooth roads for cycling. Perhaps checkout the 85 kilometre Dalgety Loop, the 62 kilometre Eucumbene Dam trail or the classic Jindabyne to Charlotte Pass 80 kilometre ride.
